Penta is mainly used in the coating industry and can be used to manufacture alkyd resin coatings, which can improve the hardness, gloss and durability of coating film. It is also used as the raw material of rosin balsam for color paints, varnishes and printing inks, as well as drying oils, anti-fire coatings and aviation lubricants.
In addition, it is also used in prouction of medicine, pesticides and others. Penta erythritol molecule contains four equivalent hydroxylmethyl groups with high symmetry, so it is often used as raw materials for the preparation of polyfunctional-group compounds.
